Charlie Wilson’s War is a 2007 drama film about Democratic Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson, who conspired with a CIA officer named Gust Avrakotos to launch an operation to help the Afghan Mujahideen during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. It is based on a 2003 book of the same title by George Crile. The film stars Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
On January 18, 2007, a 34-year-old special-effects assistant suffered head and facial injuries when a hand-held mortar exploded while being tested on the set for the film.[1]
Emily Blunt and Amy Adams make cameo appearances in this film.
